JOB PROFILE

The Regulated Hazardous Materials Technical Coordinator offers technical support to sales staff by displaying knowledge and background in chemical segregation, manifesting, waste profiling, disposal options and approvals, MOE and TDG regulations compliance. The Technical Administrator is responsible for leading and directing the activities of our field operations/teams to ensure safe, productive, and quality services for our customers. The Regulated Hazardous Materials Technical Coordinator will also be a customer interface while communicating issues/developments to the sales and customer service departments.   

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Process incoming waste profile sheets for accuracy and forward to appropriate destination indicating disposal methodologies for approval and resolve any discrepancies;
  • Enter a variety of information into the appropriate system programs to include profile information, approval decisions, and confirmation letters;
  • Respond to calls with respect to waste pickup and scheduling by informing appropriate personnel with dates, customer, and scheduling data;
  • Maintains customer information in AS-400 and sales file including customer file which may include customer correspondence, contracts, waste profiles, and current profiles;
  • Contacts customers on an as-needed basis regarding specific job related requirements, obtaining additional information, and job satisfaction and quality;
  • Tracks profitability and provides background information for future forecasting to include value, profiles, and associated costs;
  • Maintains the technical service file system to include customer correspondence, waste profiles, and pricing as well as updating customer spreadsheets to maintain current profiles, costs, and all pricing on individual account basis;
  • Identifies and tracks transportation, lab analysis and vendor costs by purchase orders to insure accuracy of billing invoices;
  • Prepares project estimates, proposals and assists with contract preparation;
  • Selects and obtains new waste profiles with respect to customer preference, technology, cost and facility approval;
  • Works with the Operations Manager to assists in the development and achievement of the facility’s goals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • College/University degree required – in Environmental and/or Chemistry;
  • 5-10 years or work experiences in a related field such as environmental services;
  • Experience with MS Office suite is a requirement and ShowCase software, considered as an asset; Knowledge of Ministry Of
  • Environment Regulations;
  • Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act;
  • Experience in completing Waste Characterizations including sampling, as an asset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Extensive local and some overnight travel may be required.
  • Spends 25% of time traveling on the different sites, 65% in an office environment and 15% in meeting with managers and employee or costumers.
