Staffing Advisor (MR7546)

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for planning, sourcing, assessing, and qualifying best-in-class talent for non-academic positions, to join McGill University – Faculty of Medicine. This role will develop tactical sourcing plans, actively source and recruit high quality internal and external candidates and contribute to an online/social media presence.

Primary responsiblities:

  • Undertake all aspects of recruitment cycle from the creation of the job description to the production of the offer letter.
  • Use behavioral interviewing assessment techniques to validate top candidates providing trusted expert advice to hiring managers throughout the assessment process.
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal customers to understand and identify current and future talent needs and advise on talent acquisition processes, activities and outcomes.
  • Complete a variety of electronic forms and documentation pertaining to human resources functions (e.g. staffing, compensation)
  • Ensure adherence to University’s staffing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in process improvement activities related to talent acquisition such as web site redesign, social media presence and reducing recruitment cycle time.
  • Identify the right sourcing channels and segments to source best-in-class talent.
  • Partner closely with other recruiters and HR Advisors to share candidates, leverage new sourcing channels, share best practices and provide support as required.
  • Collaborate with HR advisors to leverage internal pool of talent currently on career & employment transition (CET).
  • Assesses and contributes to rematch (job evaluations)


Undergraduate degree

Three (3) years’ experience

Duration: 1 year

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

HR certification, CHRP (CRIA, CRHA) designation and 3 years recruitment experience. Experience with social media. Professional communications skills, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines. Excellent problem solving skills. Must be able to communicate and write in both French & English (mandatory). Experience in social media and recruitment webpage design and implementation. Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems. Strong computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office and internet navigation. Knowledge of recruitment metrics (cycle time, quality of hire, etc.) will be considered as an asset. Experience working with recruitment agency is an asset.
