Aquafit Instructor

This is a Part-Time position in Montréal, QC posted August 1, 2018.


The YMCAs of Quebec – Downtown Centre is looking to add a talented and highly professional group fitness instructor to their team. Your energy and fun-loving personality will contribute to an exciting schedule of group fitness classes. You will bring to the team a strong ability to design safe, effective and creative classes. To support your professional development, the YMCAs of Quebec provide their instructors several opportunities to attend interesting and current workshops.You will be part of a dynamic group that work diligently to ensure the best membership experience to our members each and every time they come to their YMCA.



  • Teach the class according to the class description and guidelines of the YMCAs of Québec;
  • Adapt exercises to create a inclusive environment for the class and offer options or modifications to encourage members to exercise at their own pace;
  • Observe participants and offer them feedback and corrections if necessary;
  • Politely intervene if a member is at risk of injuring themselves while performing an exercise;
  • Make sure that procedures and policies are being followed;
  • Adhere to YMCA Policies and Procedures on the Protection of Children and Vulnerable People;
  • Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy within the position and the Association, and participate in fundraising activities/events.



  • Certification in Aquafit, YMCA certifies F.I.T or equivalent;
  • Minimum 1 year experience in field;
  • Able to teach various aquafit classes, including prenatal aquafit and aqua bootcamp (an asset)
  • Have a valid CPR certification or be ready to obtain one;
  • CPR First Aid certification or be willing to do it
  • Be capable of working in both official languages;
  • Have no criminal record in connection with employment.
