Job Description

The Analyst, Market Intelligence & Analytics, is a key partner to the Institutional Distribution team, supporting the growth and retention objectives of the firm through providing best-in-class research and analytics. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in the investment management industry, strong analytical and communication skills, and a desire to make a positive impact in our growing team. The Analyst will be responsible for working with large datasets in Excel, deriving insights on a company, competitor, or product basis and compiling research and industry trends. This role will have exposure to and interact with several key stakeholders including Relationship Managers, Client Portfolio Managers, Marketing and Sales Enablement, while offering unparalleled exposure within an industry-leading investment management firm.

Accountabilities:

  • Create comprehensive prospect research reports to understand plan details, objectives, and asset allocation.
  • Produce competitor intelligence reports to assess high-level competitive landscape, or more granular evaluation versus select peers.
  • Provide business intelligence metrics and reporting to evaluate progress and success.
  • Prepare product and market research across asset classes and market segments, assessing size of the market, product characteristics and performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Support sales objectives in a business-to-business setting by developing prospect lists utilizing quantitative and qualitative screening.
  • Respond to requests from internal partners in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and processes to fulfill requests with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Utilize external and internal datasets and Excel to consolidate and cleanse data for analysis using formulas, functions and pivot tables.
  • Prepare and present analysis findings and insights using PowerPoint or other data visualization methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics or related fields
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in an institutional asset management role
  • Experience in completing market research or competitive intelligence reports
  • Must be results-oriented and dedicated to high standards
  • Ability to take initiative and employ critical thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail along with exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Proactive attitude and the ability to thrive with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working with team members in multiple locations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM and/or eVestment an asset
  • A desire to continuously learn and improve, particularly related to industry and investment knowledge
  • Completion of, or enrolment in, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation is an asset
  • Basic to intermediate statistics knowledge considered an asset
