Director of Finance

This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted March 12, 2023.

Under the supervision of the Vice President, Operations and Administration, the Director of Finance’s main function is the management, planning, organizing, evaluating, monitoring, and supervision of all activities related to finance and accounting.

Must have not-for -profit experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the smooth running of the finance department as a whole;
  • Provides management and supervision of the finance department and provides the required coaching for his team;
  • Plans, coordinates and ensures the smooth running of all financial schedules (budgets, government reports, audited financial statements, etc.) of all centres in collaboration with the services and centres;
  • Manages the month-end exercise; analyzes the financial statements, compares them to budgets and obtains an explanation for differences;
  • Develops the financing plan for capital procurement;
  • Procures and produces the financial reports required during special projects;
  • Evaluates the financial reporting systems, accounting practices and investment initiatives, and proposes changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to the organization’s senior management and managers;
  • Designs, analyzes, recommends and implements rules, procedures, accounting methods, and internal financial and accounting control procedures in order to protect the organization’s assets;
  • Supervises the development of the overall budget (several fiscal companies) in collaboration with senior management;
  • Evaluates financial risk, prepares financial forecasts, financing scenarios and other reports concerning capital management and prepares reports and recommendations;

  • EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A NOT-FOR PROFIT
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration;
  • Hold a recognized CPA accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA)
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in team management;
  • Excellent knowledge of French and English (spoken and written);
  • Good knowledge of common software: Word and Excel;
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade;
  • Autonomy and good organizational skills;
  • Initiative;
  • Excellent analytical skills, discretion and judgment;
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Salary: 100000.00-120000.00
