PurposeProvides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for driving bank-wide impact through the development of Performance Development and Culture strategies.

This role collaborates to ensure the successful rollout of the bank’s refreshed Performance Development philosophy and continues to proactively leverage both internal and external insights to evolve and improve the bank’s culture – contributing to a more integrated talent experience for all employees globally.AccountabilitiesLeads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.Increases engagement with Performance Development activities by employees and People Leaders through the creation of new future-focused initiative and program design, anchored in a deep understanding of how to create a highly-engaged, highly-motivated workforce.Leads the successful rollout, monitoring and enhancement of the Performance Development approach to flex to the bank’s evolving needs, informed by data and the latest best practices.Brings innovative thinking and new ideas, challenging existing thinking on performance process.Enhances collaboration across Talent COEs to enable the effective integration of initiatives and drive a more integrated end-to-end talent experience globally.Responsible for shaping an approach across HR that ensures the cultural values of the organization are considered in all HR-driven initiatives.Acts as the champion of the Bank’s culture, responsible for the design, implementation of integrated actions that will influence the mindset and behavior changes in support of culture aspirations.

Collaborates with stakeholders in the organization to ensure a consistent and ever evolving focus on the culture.Leads and supports highly engaged PD& C team members, who strategically leverage both internal and external data sources to advise LOBs on the best strategies for improving the performance of their teams and overall culture.Act as Community Leader for PD& C globally by building strong partnerships with stakeholders to effectively socialize strategy.Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits.

Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environtment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the teamEducation and ExperienceBachelor degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline10 years of HR experience with an emphasis on performance managementStrong internal consulting skills with ability to champion and influence change to ensure leaders across the Bank own performance developmentAbility to create innovative solutions to challenges that create value for business and HR partnersAbility to think strategically and cultivate internal and external networks and relationshipsDeep knowledge of performance management processes and how to drive the cultural and behavioral changes needed to enable a high performance work culture/environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skillsAbility to translate strategy into actionable plans and results
