This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted June 7, 2021.

Controller – Wolfville Nursing Homes Group of Companies Wolfville, Nova Scotia Wolfville Nursing Homes, Group of Companies is a privately owned and operated licensed nursing home, a licensed residential care facility, and an assisted living building providing quality care to over 100 residents.

In this new role, we are looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented financial professional to join our team as a Controller.

The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills that can be accountable to drive the accounting function of our organization.

The Controller will be responsible for the accounting operations of the organization including the production of financial reports and maintaining all procedures and controls related to the financial and accounting departments of the organization.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO, providing support and financial insight on a regular basis.

Examples of specific duties include (but are not limited to): Provide valuable financial insights and analysis to assist the CEO in decision making Ensure month/quarter/year-end processes are completed in a timely manner to ensure accurate financial reporting Evaluate, maintain and continuously enhance the finance functions of the organization, including monitoring and reporting organizational performance Accounts Receivables; setting up new accountsand maintaining existing ones, monthly statement preparation/distribution and bank deposits/pre-authorized payments Accounts Payables; vendor account maintenance, posting invoices for payment, processing cheques/electronic fund transfers and responding to inquiries General Ledger; input and balance G/L accounts and sub-ledger accounts, including Trust Ledger Update and print financial reports and financial statements as required, review monthly Financial Statements with CEO Maintain budget information and provide analysis Year-end process and preparation for Auditors Preparation of monthly and yearly Department of Health & Wellness reports Manage Financial meeting for new Resident Admissions Reconciliation of Department of Health & Wellness Accounts Provide backup to Payroll Resident Income Tax Preparation Prepare budgets for expenditures of the company for approval by the board of directors Provide technical and professional advice and knowledge to others within the various administrative areas of the organization Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics Other duties as may be assigned by CEO Requirements A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role with a focus on accounting Degree in Accounting related field of study from a recognized university or a combination of education, training and experience Possession of a recognized professional Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) is considered an asset Experience using Sage 50 Premium Software is required Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines Ability to think outside the box and work in a ‘hands on’ role Strong work ethic with personal drive for success As the successful candidate you should have a keen eye for detail and solid organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Additionally, you possess above average computer proficiency, and enjoy working both independently and in a team environment.
