Senior Advisor Client Onboarding

National Bank

This is a Contract position in Montreal, QC posted November 14, 2023.

This is an opportunity to join the team at National Bank Trust (NBT), a Wealth Management business line known for its rigour and expertise. NBT manages close to $165 billion in assets under management and administration and serves Personal Banking and Institutional Markets clients through its Trust Services. As a Senior Advisor – Client Onboarding, your primary mandate will be to take charge of the full onboarding process for new clients and portfolio managers in the Bank’s systems and establish higher standards for the client experience.

Your role

  • Provide support to NBT clients during major life events (arrivals, portfolio manager changes, departures, etc.)
  • Serve a varied clientele made up of institutional clients and portfolio managers (custody services, institutional asset management, pension plans, etc.)
  • Motivate a multidisciplinary team of experts to manage clients’ life events
  • Take full leadership of activities and decision making
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for all integration activities and changes, and always keep stakeholders informed (clients, portfolio managers, account managers, operational teams)
  • Support operational teams in carrying out their tasks to ensure a distinctive client experience
  • Help managers achieve their business development objectives by focusing on a red-carpet approach to managing clients’ major life events
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to help define objectives and list deliverables
  • Plan, manage, and respect deadlines
  • Effectively manage change and implement rigorous controls for the various activities
  • Optimize and document team processes on an ongoing basis
  • Train colleagues and experts to help them perfect their knowledge and achieve their goals
  • Manage risk related to client events including unexpected occurrences and the critical path, and organize mitigation plans
  • Make sure that problems and risk factors are managed in accordance with the governance in place
  • Help resolve problems and recommend alternative solutions for achieving objectives

Your team

You will report directly to the team manager and work with a group of 4 people.

Prerequisites

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Between 5 and 10 years of experience managing client relationships
  • Extensive knowledge of custody services
  • Extensive knowledge of resolution activities (an asset)
  • Desire to understand other sectors’ activities in order to optimize the end-to-end client experience
  • Ability to have a positive influence while demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism
  • Effective use of follow-up and collaboration tools (Salesforce, Teams)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Bilingualism, both spoken and written (English and French)
