Canaropais a distributor of builder’s hardware situated in the Montreal area with branches across Canada.

We have an opportunity for an energetic, responsible individual to join our team as aMechanical DesignerPOSITION SUMMARY:The role of the Mechanical Designer is to provide technical support to all departments.

The technical support may be in the form of design and production of mechanical part and assembly drawings using CAD; the creation of templates, installation instructions, product specifications, door preparations; the physical installation, testing and trouble shooting of products; consult on customer inquiries and/or installation problems in the field; review technical aspects associated with the product catalog and all related marketing materials.RESPONSIBILITIES:The Mechanical Designer must capture requirements and technical specifications for new (and validate existing) products, as well as test and evaluate all prototypes.

You will be assisting the Sales, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Catalogue & Graphics departments inthe marketing, improvement, inspection, and documentation, respectively, of hardware parts and products.

You will be involved in the entire product cycle; from the design, determining the need and building the business case phase to tracking the success of the product after the launch.REQUIREMENTS:The successful candidate will be highly analytical, results oriented, very organized and possess attention to detail and accuracy skills.

The individual must be a self-starter able to work autonomously, multitask and committed to meeting timelines.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Design or equivalent.

Proficiency in MS Office (Excel; advanced) & Adobe Suite.

Strong knowledge and application of AutoCAD 3DModeling & Drafting or equivalent.

Experience in machining, fabrication or manufacturing assembly is a definite asset.

At least 3 years experience in a similar position involving product design and development.

Must be mechanically inclined.

Strong English language skills (spoken and written), French (good working knowledge).
