The manufacturing engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of production, support and documentation required for the manufacture and packaging of products manufactured at KIM.

Responsibilities Under the direction of the project manager, the manufacturing engineer:
– Formulates and reviews work instructions for subassembly and assembly of locking components and others.

– Supports pre-pilot and pilot testing when introducing new products into production.

– Provides technical support for production.

– Establishes standard production times (process routes).

– Designs, controls and updates plant and production drawings.

– Supports new production facilities required for the introduction of new products and optimization of assembly methods for existing products.

– Carries out the technical projects entrusted to it in accordance with the prescribed objectives.

– Ensures that project activities contribute to the achievement of project objectives while respecting the resources allocated.

– Ensures that the targets (Kpi’s), budgets and deadlines set for the project are respected, and provides progress reports and evaluations to the supervisor at established frequencies.

– Actively participates in the continuous improvement process (DMS, Kaisen, A3 problem solving, etc.).

Other tasks (Projects)
– Establish relationships for collaborative work and information sharing.

– Mobilize key stakeholders to ensure their participation in the project.

– Prepare all working documents.

– Prepare and follow up on the schedule of all activities.

– Monitor progress on an ongoing basis and draft progress reports.

– Establish and maintain effective and ongoing communications with individuals and groups directly or indirectly involved in the project.

– Prepare quotes for all trades executives involved in the installation of equipment and related services.

– Analyze bids and make recommendations.

– Prepare documents required for the approval of purchasing and service expenses.

– Ensure that the work is carried out per company’s policies and the Health and Safety rules in place.

– Assume all the tasks necessary for the smooth running of the project.

Training Required
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

– Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec.

– Minimum of five years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent experience in industrial manufacturing.

– Strong interpersonal relationships, time management and problem solving.

– Knowledge and good command of Word, WordPerfect, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Project, MRP and Autocad.

– Good spoken and written English and French.

– Knowledge of continuous improvement programs an asset.

– White belt, Greenbelt, Blackbelt an asset.
