One of Vancouver’s elite Labour & Employment firms is searching for an Occupational Health and Safety Counsel.

The firm has been recognized as top Occupational Health lawyers in Western Canada and have proposed legislation in this area.

Due to an increasing volume of work, the WorkSafe group are looking to add another lawyer to the team.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The incoming lawyer will represent and provide strategic advice to clients on issues primarily relating to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulation, Workers Compensation Act, the Canada Labour Code and associated federal OHS regulations.

This includes matters relating to serious workplace injuries and fatalities and advising clients on preventative measures (i.e.

how to avoid administrative penalties and prosecutions).

The incoming lawyer will be supporting private and public sector clients in a variety of industries including Oil & Gas, Film & Television, Forestry, Mining, Education, Healthcare, Maritime, Municipalities, Transportation, Insurance and Retail.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in and understanding of OHS and WorkSafeBC matters.

A prior background in regulatory prosecution (in any area) is a strong asset.

In addition to practicing in the areas of OHS, there is also the flexibility to branch out and practice in other areas under the firm’s labour & employment umbrella as well as in general litigation.

Candidates with relevant experience from other jurisdictions outside of BC welcome to apply.
