The IT Business Analyst is responsible to translating requirements into detailed specifications.


  • Has the responsibility for translating business requirements into detailed specifications

  • Participates in the high level design solution and estimation process

  • Designs the solution for the software product in line with solution architecture and technical roadmap

  • Has the responsibility for defining development specifications and system modifications required to meet objectives (including non functional requirements)

  • Provides technical support / leadership for escalated incidents / outages to ensure that they are resolved efficiently

  • Identifies, recommends, sources, negotiates and designs solutions to enhance stakeholder experience

  • Provides advice and expert knowledge on the technical feasibility of proposed deliverables

  • Breaks down requirements into small parts and defines the relationships of each to build a logical design uses a variety of techniques that provide the most effective means for individuals with knowledge of the solution requirements to assess the completeness, usability, ease of use, and flow of solution in order to have proper feedback on the proposed solution

  • Designs intuitive solutions that add value to users

  • Has the ability to breakdown development items into small increments that benefit users in collaboration with Software Product Owner

  • Has the ability to produce documentation for user community (such as release notes)

  • Ability to document designs within allotted timeframes

  • Works with Developers and QA to ensure that the detailed design is fully understood and the development initiatives are in line with design

  • Supports delivery teams (dev and QA) to insure quality deliveries

Succeeding as a IT Business Analyst – Installation will require the core qualifications and skills:

  • Detail oriented with the capability to respect timeframes/budgets

  • Respects documentation standards

  • Balance short-term need with longer-term vision.

  • Quick study – Curious, can learn new area of our solution quickly and can relate to others as needed. Act as a knowledge leader for those in the team around him.

  • Can deliver to documentation standards and challenge them as needed in order to continuously improve our model in quality and efficiency.

  • Collaborates with all required stakeholders

  • Able to justify design choices to leadership

  • Able to translate client requirement into business needs

  • Strive on continuous improvement, status quo not an option, should be a change agent

  • Ability to handle conflict effectively
