As a member of the Andritz Hydro Mechanical Design Team Turbine, located in Pointe-Claire, the selected candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of the rehabilitation of the Francis, Kaplan and propeller turbine groups.

Turbine engineer: Collaborate with hydraulic design engineers, drafters and project teams in the development of turbine designs within technical specifications and cost optimization requirements over project cycles; Perform design computations (stress and strains) in addition to technical specifications, in conformity with internal design practice and industry requirements; Prepare engineering instructions for manufacturing and installation; Budget and timeline follow up and update with project teams; Organize and participate in design reviews; Review and seal off technical documentation prepared by him or under his/her supervision; Provide technical support for the manufacturing and installation of generators; Participate in the development and maintenance of tools and design practices; Participate in problem solving and identification of base causes; Prepare, as required, technical documentation for bids.

University degree in Mechanical Engineering; Professional Engineer registered with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ; 5 years in refurbishment or design of hydro electric turbine.

Alternatively 10 years in design and repair of heavy mechanical structure (pulp and paper, mining, etc.); Knowledge of drawing standards, GD& T, welding symbols and non-destructive examination (NDT); Profile: client approach, teamwork, interpersonal skills, technical leadership, solution-oriented and continuous development; Excellent written and oral communication abilities; Available for occasional trips of over a week in Canada and abroad; Knowledge of MS Office suite, CAD system and relevant computer tools; Fluently bilingual – English and French, written and oral (desirable); Manufacturing (welding,machining and/or casting) and site experience, an asset.
