The companyrsquos expertise in networked processors has evolved into in a line of high-performance, fault-tolerant flight control and sensor processing hardware and software solutions in awesome fields such as Earth Observation Satellites Vision Processing Hyperspectral Imaging Quantum Key Exchange Unmanned Vehicle Systems Bone Growth Life Science (Osteocytes) Stratospheric Balloon Payloads Satellite Based Ship Tracking As Senior Embedded System Design Specialist, you will help take state-of-the-art FPGA computing platforms beyond the earth’s atmosphere and possibly to the surface of other worlds.

Reporting to our Chief Engineer, you will be working with satellite payloads, science instruments, and vision processing algorithms.

Responsibilities These will be your main duties as Senior Embedded System Design Specialist Take responsibility for and design FPGA-based embedded processor systems Liaise with clients to develop requirements and obtainensure agreement on design approach and implementation Develop and design platform architectures Generate schematic capture (Altium Designer) Generate PCB layouts (Altium Designer ) Lead internal technical team and subcontractors to ensure coordinated development Oversee and manage subcontractors for fabrication and assembly of custom hardware Work with test team to develop and execute functional and environmental hardware test plans Generate technical reports for design reviews Take part in the continuous improvement and application of QA and development processes Secondary responsibilities We’re a small team and you’ll inevitably wear many hats.

You’ll also help with FPGA logic development Software development Quality and process assurance Marketing support ndash participate in trade shows, generate sales leads, maintain technical product specifications Customer development ndash maintain contact with customer leads, and help convert leads into sales Skills As part of your main duties, these skills are an absolute must Hardware Design Schematic capture using Altium Designer Layout using Altium Designer FPGA RAM FLASH (NOR and NAND) Interfaces (Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN, PCI, USB) High speed serial transceivers (LVDS, PCIe, SATA, USB 3.0) Hardware Debugging Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Logic analysers Hardware Project Management Nice to haves It would be great if you knew about these Xilinx Microsemi C Python Windows, Linux Git Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Microelectronics or equivalent level of education 10 yearsrsquo experience Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearance You are self-motivated and can operate with minimal direction Must be a strong communicator and comfortable in support roles with customers Experienced in technical leadership and coaching Bilingual (oral and written French and English) Xiphos offers a highly-motivating work environment.
