We are not driven by products, we are driven by people; our Estate Planners arerewarded when they design and implement a plan that respects, protects, and nurtures a client’s significance.The roleAs an Estate Planner, you will advise on, and help to implement a range of estate planning strategies that will enable our high-net-worth clients to achieve their objectives, thus safeguarding their significance.

As our chief in-house tax expert, you will primarily focus on the specific client opportunities related to tax planning and minimization.

You will work collaboratively alongside our other internal and external experts that sit in the arenas of legal, financial planning and insurance to ensure each plan is delivered in a comprehensive manner, accounting for all angles and any overlaps between disciplines.You will spend your days engaging in a mixture of client focused activities.

You enjoy working to the pace and requirements of the client, which is varied – you will go where client need dictates.

For example, some days you may spend predominantly in the boardroom, advising both current and prospective clients in relation to their estate planning needs.

Other days may see you help to design a RRSP withering strategy, pull together a net-worth statement, write a proposal for a prospective client, help to implement a company reorganization and/or review personal, corporate and trust tax returns.You will generate a strong sense of trust and credibility, both in yourself as an expert, and in MacMillan, as an organization, emphasizing the client-focused approach our company has taken over the last 26 years to help 1000s of families safeguard their significance.Qualifications and experienceAn undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and/or another appropriate academic major5 years of relevant tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industryA Canadian CPA or CA designation, or a reciprocal CA designation recognized with the CICAAn Insurance license is an assetSkillsA confident communicator and an expert in active listeningEffective spoken and written communication skillsStrong project management and organizational skillsAbility to work to tight deadlinesAbility to work independently as well as in a teamA proactive, can-do attitude and a highly motivated and driven team playerEnjoy meeting new people, and getting to know themEnjoy the detail, but don’t get bogged down in it, with the ability to see the big pictureIntermediate to enhanced abilities in Word, PowerPoint and ExcelKnowledge of Dynamics 365 is an assetThe termsThe role is full time, working from our Calgary office.

Ideally you are based in Calgary, Alberta but other areas of Western Canada would be also considered for the right candidate.
