Salary(Grade:NC8) Hiring salary range $79273-$100,134 Position Purpose Evaluates the users business and software requirements and develops new or enhances existing or off-the-shelf computer applications.

Manages medium to major projects and may be required to supervise the work of others.

Essential Qualifications University degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum 5 years of experience developing and implementing software applications.Demonstrated experience with a broad range of scientific and numerical software and experience/knowledge with common programming tools, languages, and techniques will be considered a strong assetKnowledge of project management concepts and methods and experience in planning and managing cross functional projects that are usually completed within 1 year.

Knowledge of University policies, guidelines, procedures and standards regarding system and software development and deployment.A thorough understanding of high-performance computing (HPC) and knowledge of existing computing resources offered by organizations within Compute Canada and private organizations will be considered an asset.An understanding of the processes and constraints of academic research and the scientific endeavor, and a knowledge of what motivates scientists is required for this position.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of scientific computing, especially with respect to parallel processing and code optimization.Experience in providing supervision, guidance, leadership and feedback to project teams and junior resources.Analytical skills to diagnose, troubleshoot, debug and repair complex programming issues.Ability to proactively keep abreast of new and emerging technologies.Ability to communicate technical concepts to users.

Bilingualism French and English (spoken and written).
