Senior Manager – Assurance

The opportunity As an Assurance Senior Manager, you will be a professional member of our Audit practice.

Your key responsibilities Supervise and review planning performed by engagement teams to ensure that our audits are as efficient and effective as possible based on an understanding of engagement risk, planning materiality, and other considerations as specified by generally accepted auditing standards Provide guidance/expertise and participate in the performance of audit procedures with our clients, particularly with respect to complex and/or specialized issues Complete second-level review of audit working papers with a focus on adequately addressing significant risks of material misstatement Lead the engagement budgeting process, including assessing the reasonability of estimated hours / fees, monitoring progress against budget and identifying time incurred on areas not originally within scope of the audit Participate directly in fee discussions with clients Perform performance evaluations, prioritizing transparency and timeliness of feedback Teach training to other levels of assurance managers, senior and staff when required while maintaining a culture of informal on-the-job coaching and mentoring Identify/communicate relevant trends, developments, and key performance drivers relevant to our clients Develop and maintain strong long-term working relationships both internally and externally Generate new business opportunities by developing ideas and solutions to grow and build the practice Achieve growth by understanding EY and its service lines and actively assessing/presenting ways to apply that knowledge by identifying services relevant to our clients, proactively anticipating their needs Skills and attributes for success Excellent project management and leadership skills, including a willingness to lead by example Professional presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise Ability to take a pragmatic approach to issues that underpin client relationships while demonstrating and living the firm’s values Integrity in a professional environment To qualify for the role you must have An undergraduate degree or a graduate degree with a minimum of 8-10 years of related work experience Must have a Canadian CPA, CA designation, or possess a reciprocal CPA, CA designation Ideally, you’ll also have The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment What we look for We’re interested in strong team players who support their colleagues in reaching their goals while also considering their own workload and development.
